PM says tasting Moldovan wine makes one understand more about people of Moldova

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has become the capital of the wine tourism for two days, by hosting the third issue of the Global Conference on Wine Tourism, inaugurated today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip has said that the carrying out of this event in Moldova was recognition of the fact that the country had become an important wine destination on the map of the world tourism and the Moldovan wine was a visiting card of Moldova.
„When we go on visit abroad, it is already obligatory for us to take also a bottle of Moldovan wine. We have flavoured wines, different wines, but very good wines. Just as we, our wines have experienced a lot of things and represent us as people. When you taste a Moldovan wine, maybe you understand more about this people than the messages which can be conveyed orally,” Pavel Filip said.
The event brings together over 200 guests from the wine tourism sector of 60 countries and represents an occasion to promote Moldova’s image abroad. The PM noted that each citizen can contribute to this through love for the country.
„If we love the country, the others will do the same. To love the country means to love the nature, culture, as well as the people. That is why, maybe we should not always agree with each other, but where we must find common mind is the love for the country. I sincerely want us, just as wines, become better as time passes and learn to see the beauty around us,” the prime minister stressed.
Moldova has the highest density of vineyards out of all farmlands in the world and ranks sixth among the European countries according to the area of vine plantations. “Most wine exports go to European countries. I used to say that wine resembles the people and just as we have chosen the European way, our wines have found the same direction,” Pavel Filip said.
The Global Conference on Wine Tourism is organized under the aegis of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, in partnership with Moldova’s government.
