Moldovan foreign affairs minister unveils developments of Moldova - European Union ties in Berlin

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan government’s goal is to continue the country’s transformation based on the European model of development, thus ensuring a European future to its citizens. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi has made statements to this effect at a roundtable organized by the Institute for European Policies in Berlin, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.
Attending the event were representatives of the Bundestag, political foundations, civil society, German academic environment, as well as representatives of foreign diplomatic missions.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi pointed out the developments in the implementation of the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), both its benefits for Moldova and the challenges faced in the implementation process. “Statistics data shows us that EU is presently the main trade partner of Moldova, holding a share of 68 per cent of all Moldovan exports. Another important indicator for us is the continuous increase of the number of companies with commercial and economic relations with the EU market, as well as the increase in the volume of Moldovan goods and services on the EU market,” the Moldovan diplomacy head said.
At the presentation, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi referred also to problems faced by the authorities in the process of implementing the reforms’ agenda, noting also the measures undertaken by the cabinet to overcome them. “We have an extraordinary political will to change the things in Moldova, taking as basis the European model of development, so that our citizens are less tempted to leave the country and see a prosperous European future for our country,” Ulianovschi stressed.
Also, the participants were informed about the Moldova – European Union cooperation on the multilateral platform of the Eastern Partnership, including of those three states which implement Association Agreements.
The Institute for European Policies was founded in Berlin in 1959 and is a non-profit organization dedicated to researches in the European integration sector. The institute is a platform for exchanging opinions between the academic environment, representatives of political parties, central and local public administration. The Institute for European Policies is a founding member of the Trans-European Policy Studies Association and has been member of the European Movement Germany since 1962.
Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi pays a working visit to Germany on 5-7 September.
