Moldovan PM demands starting procedures of procurement, construction of Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline as quickly as possible

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Romanian Minister of Economy Danut Andrusca and Director General of the Transgaz Romania Company Ion Sterian. The event was held on the occasion of the taking over of the Vestmoldtransgaz State Enterprise by Eurotransgaz Moldova – subsidiary of the Transgaz Romania Company, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Thanks to the full carrying out the contract’s terms, the certificate of finalization for the completion of the transaction on sale and purchase of Vestmoldtransgaz was signed today. Immediately after the singing, the 180 million lei from the concerned transaction will be collected in the state budget.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip thanked the teams from Eurotransgaz and Transgaz Romania for the efforts made. He assured the Transgaz management of the Moldovan government’s every support for the as quick as possible launch of the procedures of tender, acquisitions and construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline. The Transgaz Company is to invest about 93 million euros to this end.
„The construction of this gas pipeline will create a real alternative of supplying the domestic market with natural gas and will strengthen the country’s energy security, getting us closer and closer to the European system,” Pavel Filip stressed.
The contract on privatization of the State Enterprise Vestmoldtransgaz by the Romanian company Transgaz was signed on 28 March 2018. The Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline will have a length of 120 km and a capacity to annually carry about 1.5 billion cubic metres of natural gas from Romania to Moldova.
