Moldovan parliament speaker asks holding of parliamentary hearings in case of expulsion from country of 7 foreign citizens

Chisinau, 06 September /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, has called for parliamentary hearings to be held in case of expulsion of 07 foreign citizens from Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Andrian Candu stressed the importance of parliamentary scrutiny in this case from the point of view of respecting human rights and national and international norms. He urged the management of the Commission of national security, defence and public order, led by Eugen Carpov and subcommission on parliamentary control over the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) to hold hearings with invitation of SIS leadership. Also, the SP called for an analysis of materials and info on the expulsion of Turkish citizens and announcement of the results of hearings to ensure public scrutiny of this issue.
According to SIS’s information and media communication service, seven foreign citizens suspected of ties with an Islamist group were declared undesirable by competent authorities and expelled from territory of Moldova. According to the Intelligence and Security Service, beforehand, there had been made thorough assessments and the decisions taken aimed at ensuring national security.
