Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Embassy in Berlin has temporarily ceased working. The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) made an announcement to this effect.
In a press release, MAEIE said that “as a result of actions announced by a group of Turkish citizens, as well as of signals of threatening and possible aggression against Moldova’s Embassy in Berlin and the General Consulate from Frankfurt, special measures of enhancing the security were taken at the headquarters of the diplomatic missions.”
According to the communiqué, on the period of the protests, the Berlin-based diplomatic mission temporarily ceased working. “The law-enforcement bodies ensure the security of the diplomatic missions,” the press release reads.
Today, more publications and news channels informed that the Embassy and Consulate of Moldova from Germany had been evacuated, after the employees had been threatened with death by representatives of an Islamist group, which would include also those seven Turkish citizens expelled from Moldova on 6 September.
On last Thursday, the Intelligence and Security Service of Moldova said that seven citizens of Turkey, suspected of relations with an Islamist group, had been declared undesirable by the competent bodies and expelled from Moldova. Those seven citizens were members of the administration of the Chisinau-based Orizont lyceum.
