World Tourism Organization to back rural, agricultural, ecological tourism from Moldova

Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili, on a visit to Moldova to participate in the third issue of the Global Conference on Wine Tourism, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The prime minister thanked the official for the support provided to Moldova to organize this important international event, which will stay at the basis of the development of the wine and domestic tourism. Pavel Filip noted that Moldova had a big potential in these fields and that it was willing to turn it to good account.

„We have special wineries, nice monasteries, a hospitable people and a tasty cuisine. These are all needed ingredients for the development of the domestic tourism. We want to promote Moldova as an attractive country for investments and tourism,” Pavel Filip said.   

The PM said that the government supported the wine industry, which had grown both in value and quality in the last years, the enhancement of the investment attractiveness and development of the domestic tourism. The Investments Agency, which represents a link between the cabinet and the private sector, was set up to achieve these goals. 

Zurab Pololikashvili confirmed the support of the World Tourism Organization for the development of the rural, agricultural and ecological tourism in Moldova. At the same time, the official invited Prime Minister Pavel Filip to participate in the International Tourism Exhibition, due in Madrid, Spain, in 2019; the event is an important platform for the promotion of tourism.
