Moldovan diplomacy head urges German business environment to invest in Moldova

Chisinau, 07 September /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova is interested in strengthening trade – economic relations and intensifying trade with Germany, as well as attracting German investments in the national economy. The statement was made today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi in Berlin during a meeting with the Executive Director of the German Economic Committee, Michael Harms, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi said that as a result of the reforms implemented by the Moldovan authorities during recent years, Moldova offers investment advantages and opportunities for the foreign business environment. "Improving business conditions for business environment, attracting foreign investments, creating new well – paid jobs remain the priorities of Government," said the head of Moldovan diplomacy.
In the context, Tudor Ulianovschi also said that the free economic areas, which offer the most attractive terms for investors, have attracted over $120 million over recent 2 years, rising from 230 in 2015 to 350 million in 2017, and in the first half of 2018 exports increased by more than 28 per cent. Referring to bilateral cooperation, the Minister mentioned that there is an untapped potential in the commercial – economic relations between the Moldova and Germany, 404 German – registered enterprises registered in Moldova being a good start – up for expanding the bilateral cooperation.
At his turn turn, Michael Harms appreciated the outcome of reforms implemented by the Government of Moldova, especially for business environment, which eventually made the Moldovan market more attractive to foreign companies, including German ones. According to the executive director of the German East Committee, in order to present the successes registered in this chapter and facilities offered by the free economic zones or industrial parks in Moldova, it is necessary to promote as much as possible for the foreign partners, including through forums business, regional or international exhibitions, and B2B meetings. Michael Harms reiterated the willingness of his institution to contribute to expanding the bilateral dialogue between the business environment of Moldova and Germany, initiating joint investment projects or expanding existing ones.
According to statistical data, during January – June 2018, the volume of foreign trade of Moldova with Germany registered over $349.7 million.
