Moldovan foreign affairs minister, Berlin lawmakers discuss Moldova-Germany cooperation

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, on a 5-7 September working visit to Germany, had a string of meetings with members of the Bundestag, representatives of various parties. The sides discussed aspects of the bilateral cooperation, including the inter-parliamentary one, regional and global developments, etc., the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
At meetings with the members of the parliamentary friendship group with Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania of the German Bundestag, led by MP Uwe Schultz, and with the members of the German-Moldovan Forum, led by the deputy chairman of Bundestag’s Defence and Security Committee, MP Fritz Felgentreu, the sides exchanged opinions on topical subjects on the agenda of the Moldovan-German political dialogue, domestic developments in the country, Transnistrian conflict’s settlement, prospects for boosting the bilateral ties in diverse sectors of common interest.
In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head welcomed the extension of the dialogue within the German-Moldovan Forum and the commitment of Fritz Felgentreu, in the capacity of its chairman, to strengthen Moldova’s presence in the political and academic space of Germany, as well as Bundestag’s annual invitations of participation in the International Parliamentary Scholarship programme, meant for graduates of Moldovan higher education institutions, giving participants possibility to take knowledge of the German parliamentary system, decision-making processes, as well as to gain practical experience in the parliamentary activity. At the same time, Ulianovschi welcomed the creation of a parliamentary group of friendship with Moldova in the new legislative period of Bundestag.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi unveiled the progress made in the European integration field, as well as Moldova’s priorities for turning to good account the potential of the Eastern Partnership.
The members of Bundestag reiterated willingness to constantly foster the Moldovan-German bilateral relations and further back Moldova in the implementation of the reforms provided for in the Association Agreement with the European Union.
