Best woodmen of 2018 year nominated in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - An employee of the forest and hunting enterprise from the central Straseni town, Veaceslav Strut, has been nominated as the best woodman of the 2018 year. The winner was chosen following the holding of the 20th issue of a professional contest organized by the Moldsilva Forestry Agency in late last week.      

The contest, The Best Woodman of 2018, took place in the Albota de Sus settlement, southern Taraclia district, and brought together 27 participants from Moldova and Romania.

The competitors were subjected to more tests, among theoretical and practical ones, testings in various concrete situations. Woodmen had to establish the species of trees and bushes according to seeds, leaves, seedlings and bark, had to show the correct stacking and establishment of volume of wood, identify hunting species according to their tracks, birds according to their sounds, etc.   

“We appreciate the interest showed by woodmen in this contest, which becomes a prestigious professional competition. During years, we have followed with satisfaction how the level of competence and ability of woodmen from Moldova is enhanced and the title got becomes an honour for the winner. We have employees representing a pride for the Agency and it is increasingly difficult for us to choose the best one at this contest, as to a great extent, all of them are good and professionals,” the forest chief engineer of the Moldsilva Agency, Nicolae Munteanu, said.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the winner of this year said that he was contented with succeeding to persuade the jury, showing his skills. “This is certainly a professional, as well as a personal success, which has at its basis years of work, experience, just as failures, which may strengthen and contribute to a better education. The work of woodman is not only a pleasure, as this could seem, but also a huge responsibility; it implies a lot of care and dedication. Wood is a living organism and it feels the passionate man and the man, for his part, must protect it from many dangers,” Veaceslav Strut stressed.       

The 2018 year contest was organized in partnership with the forestry enterprise Silva-Sud (Cahul) and the federation of forestry employees’ trade unions. The teams of the forestry enterprises from Hancesti and Calarasi ranked second and a delegation of the forestry department from Prahova, Romania, was on the third position.
