Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, along with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today laid flowers at the Embassy of the United States, in the memory of the victims of the terror attacks from 11 September 2001, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM said that the attack committed 17 years ago was the one which had led to the strengthening of efforts in the fight against a horrible phenomenon which has no moral justification. “I think that the terrorist acts are the most abominable crimes which can exist, as one cannot understand which the origin is and which is, in fact, the goal. The 2001 attack changed the mankind’s perception about terrorism – the entire mankind mobilized better, as such crimes can be counteracted only through joint effort,” Pavel Filip said.
On 11 September 2001, four passenger planes were hijacked – two of them destroyed the Twin Towers from New York. Another plane collapsed on the building of the Pentagon and the fourth one fell without hitting its target. Almost 3,000 people died in the wake of the tragedy.
