Road segment in southern Moldova, bypass road of Comrat city to be restored

Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ - The road segment Porumbrei – Cimislia and the bypass road of the Comrat city, southern Moldova, will be rehabilitated in the next three years. The works will be carried out by a company from Turkey. The contracts with the company were signed in Chisinau today.
After the signing of the contracts, Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici has said that about 30 million euros would be earmarked to modernize the road segment Porumbrei – Cimislia with a length of about 19 km. Another 29.5 million euros will be needed to restore the bypass road of the Comrat city, with a length of 18 km. The money will be provided for the European Investment Bank (EIB).
„The opening of the bids for the concerned contracts took place in late last April. By four bids for each segment were made, with the tenders held in line with EIB’s rules. The bidders were assessed depending on the financial capacity, working experience and availability of the equipments needed to carry out such works,” Gaburici noted.
According to the director general of the State Administration of Roads, Gheorghe Curmei, the company due to repair the two road segments carried out another two similar contracts in Moldova.
The works will be completed in 36 months at the latest and the period of notifying the defects is of 12 months.
