Sanctions applied against drivers committing infringements to be toughened in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ – The law amending certain legislative acts, which provides for the sanctions imposed on drivers, will be published in the issue of the Official Journal on 14 September.
Thus, the new law stipulates that fines of up to MDL 1,800 will be imposed as to exceed the speed of circulation.
Also, drunk driving will be sanctioned with a fine of up to MDL 25,000 or unpaid community service for 40 to 60 hours, in both cases depriving of the right to drive means transport for a period of 6 months to 1 year.
In case of leaving the place where the road accident occurred, drivers will receive fines, be deprived of the right to drive means of transport from a period of 6 months to 1 year, be obliged to work for the benefit of community from 20 to 40 hours or be subject to contravention arrest for a period of 7 to 10 days.
The law will enter into force three months after its publication in the Official Journal of Moldova.
