Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/- The Law amending the Criminal Code and the presidential decree on its promulgation were published in Official Journal of Moldova today.

The law stipulates that the determination of a person to commit suicide, including through electronic communications networks, shall be punished by imprisonment from 2 to 5 years.

Other additions see that the cruel treatment or torture of the animals that caused their mutilation or death shall be punished by a fine of up to 37,500 lei, with unpaid community work from 100 to 180 hours or with imprisonment up to 1 year.

The new amendments also comprise that the transmission in prisons of alcoholic beverages, drugs will be punished by a fine of up to 50,000 lei or by imprisonment from 2 to 4 years.
