Republican Festival of Ethnicity to be held in Chisinau

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/- The 17th edition of the Republican Festival of Ethnicity, entitled "Unity through Diversity", will take place during September in the Republic of Moldova.
The event will be inaugurated on 16 September in Chisinau, in the Stefan cel Mare Public Garden, attended by state officials, diplomatic corps accredited in Moldova, republican and municipal ethno-cultural organizations.
According to the organizers, the event will start at 9.30 am with laying flowers at the monument of Stefan cel Mare and a parade of the folk costumes, after which at 10.00 there will be the official opening of the Republican Festival of ethnicities.
Festival participants are of all ages, reinforcing to promote culture and traditions of ethnic minorities, thus establishing an intercultural dialogue.
Guests will be able to visit ethnic courts and book exhibitions in the mother tongue, decorative and applied art exhibitions, fine arts and crafts. Representatives of ethnicities will also present their national cuisine. Thus, Moldovans and Ukrainians, Russians and Belarusians, Gagauz and Bulgarians, Roma and Jews, Poles and Germans, Lithuanians and Estonians, Greeks and Armenians and many other ethnicities will represent the specifics and values of the country, and all of them will share the diversity of European cultural heritage.
About 60 ethno-cultural organizations, representing 20 ethnic groups, numerous artistic groups, participate in the event.
The Festival aims at turning to good account and perpetuating the national minorities' traditions as well as developing the intercultural dialogue, strengthening the friendship relations between the representatives of the different ethnicities living on the territory of the country in the context of the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
