Expert code of ethics enters into force in Moldova

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Government Decision on the approval of the Code of Ethics of the Judicial Expert was published in the Official Journal on Friday, 14 September. It represents a set of rules of professional conduct and ethical obligations of judicial experts.

The purpose of the Code is to guide the behaviour of judicial experts so that they respect the moral and professional values, principles and rules of conduct. According to document, the observance of provisions of the document is a professional obligation for every judicial expert within public judicial expertise institutions, as well as individual offices.

The judicial experts which will admit violations of the new Code of Conduct will be held liable to disciplinary action. In such cases, there will be applied disciplinary sanctions in accordance with the provisions of the legislation in force.

Currently, most public institutions of judicial expertise have approved codes of ethics for the experts working within them, but these documents are not relevant to judicial experts working in judicial expertise offices.

The Government Decision enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal of Moldova.
