Central - western city of Moldova hosts national festival of plum

Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/ – Dozens of agricultural producers and business representatives have met today in Nisporeni city to participate in the National Festival of Plum (FNP), 3rd issue. The event was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM), by support of EU in the framework of a development project, together with economic agents of Moldova, the City Hall and District Council of Nisporeni.
The main events on festival agenda will be held throughout the day in the main market in Nisporeni city, aiming at popularisation and development of agrarian sector, promotion of plum native producers as well as business specialised in modern technologies for processing plums and material processing seedlings of fruit trees.
For visitors to the festival, there are held sales exhibitions, supported by native producers, traditional dishes fair, a parade of costumes representative of the festival, an exhibition of seedlings.
Also, the festival programme provides several culinary contests, for the best exhibition of plums, handicrafts fairs, exhibitions supported by ethnic communities, a mini – town with games, animations and a theatrical show, fairs, etc. similarly, for the interested ones, there will be workshops with departures to orchards. "It is an activity that is required to be an impetus for development of regional tourism. We have what we do, we can do it at the highest level, why not show it to the whole country, even to foreign partners. The plum can become a visiting card of Nisporeni, just as the grapes have come to be in the south of the country, sugar beet, potato or apples in the north," specified for agency mayor of Nisporeni, Grigore Robu,.
In the evening, participants of the 3rd FNP in Nisporeni will have the opportunity to attend an artistic programme supported by distinguished artists from Moldova, Nisporeni district.
