Moldova, China to boost cooperation relations in customs sector

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - The customs of Moldova and China will boost cooperation in more sectors of customs administration. More agreements to this effect were reached at the first bilateral meeting between Director of the Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie and Deputy Director of the General Customs Administration of China Wang Lingjun.
At the meeting, held in Beijing, the sides agreed on the signing, in the near future, of an inter-governmental agreement on mutual administrative assistance, with the project being at the final stage of coordination. Both sides said that the agreement would contribute to tightening the security of the import-export operations.
The Customs Service specified that representatives of the Chinese Customs would consider possibility to train customs employees from Moldova at the Customs College from Shanghai.
The officials visited also the contracting company’s plant for setting two stationary scanners in Moldova at the customs checkpoints Airport and Ocnita (railway). The equipments are donated by the Chinese government within a technical assistance project worth 5.7 million dollars. The first stationary scanner was donated by the cabinet of China in 2015 and was set at the Leuseni customs checkpoint.
Statistics data shows that, in 2017, the export of Moldovan goods to China grew by 34 per cent. At the same time, the imports from China recorded an increase of 27 per cent.
