Moldova's Gross Domestic Product up by 4.5 per cent in first half of 2018

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) amounted, in nominal value, to 81.775 billion lei, at the current market prices. The GDP increased, in real terms, by 4.5 per cent against the same period of 2017. The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) presented this data today.
At the same time, in the second quarter of this year, GDP grew by 5.2 per cent against the same period of 2017. Thus, GDP (gross series) amounted to 44.166 billion lei, at current market prices.
The wholesale and the retail trade had the most important contribution to GDP’s growth in the second quarter of 2018, with a share of 20.5 per cent. The extractive industry ranked second, with a 25.5 per cent share of GDP. The constructions sector is on the third position, with a contribution of 10.4 per cent, followed by agriculture with 5.9 per cent.
According to statistics data, the net taxes on product, with a 14-per cent share in the formation of GDP, contributed +0.3 per cent to the GDP’s growth, with their volume increasing by 2.2 per cent.
In the first quarter of 2017, GDP (gross series) stood at 37.609 billion lei, at current market prices, increasing, in real terms, by 3.7 per cent against the first quarter of 2017.
