Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - The stray dogs from Chisinau’s streets will be sterilized and the sick animals will be subjected to euthanasia. The Moldovan capital’s acting mayor, Ruslan Codreanu, today made statements to this effect. He noted that a special centre to this end would be soon opened in Chisinau.
According to Codreanu, the centre where veterinary physicians will be employed might to opened in less than a month. “For about four months, we have worked to set up a municipal service due to deal with the problem of stray dogs. We work to construct lofts and the consulting room has been already endowed at a level of 80 per cent. We are to purchase medicines and get the authorization from the National Food Safety Agency, in order to start working,” Codreanu said.
The official specified that, at this centre, animals would be subjected to a post-operation treatment and would be afterwards set free. Codreanu noted that the Municipal Council in 2018 had allocated one million lei for arranging grounds meant for stray dogs.
The city hall’s competent structures could not specify the number of stray dogs in Chisinau.
