Moldovan residents' incomes increase by over six per cent in second quarter of 2018

Chisinau, 18 September /MOLDPRES/ - The available incomes amounted to an average of 2,374 lei monthly per one person in the second quarter of 2018, increasing by 6.6 per cent against the same period of the year before. In real terms, the residents’ incomes registered a 3.3-per cent growth, according to data put out by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS).      

The salary incomes represent the most important income source, or 42.4 per cent. The social benefits with 23.9 per cent and incomes got from individual activities also contributed to the formation of the citizens’ overall revenues. The transfers from abroad account for 16.5 per cent of the residents’ total incomes. 

According to BNS, the revenues of the residents from cities and towns were, on average, 1.3-fold higher against the incomes of the residents from villages. In both cases, the main income source is the salary. On the other hand, people from rural regions are more dependent from transfers from abroad.

At the same time, the residents’ average monthly expenses in the second quarter of 2018 stood at an average of 2,379 lei per one person, up by 5.9 per cent against the same period of the last year. In real terms, the residents spent by 2.6 per cent more on average against the second quarter of 2017.

Most expenditures, more exactly 45 per cent, are meant for food. One person earmarked an average of 18.2 per cent of all his/her incomes for the dwelling’s maintenance and 10.4 per cent for clothes and footwear. The other spending was used for health, communications, transport, dwelling’s endowment and education.
