Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) has informed that economic agents intending to sell plums in Canada do not need special permit for export from state’s bodies. ANSA will not compile lists for export (as it is the case in the export with Russia).
Exporters are to independently identify potential buyers in Canada, in order to establish with them conditions of plums’ supply, ANSA sources said.
To export plums to Canada, the economic agent needs a phyto-sanitary certificate for the consignment of goods exported, a document on registration by ANSA of the orchard, unit for packing plums and carrying out the phyto-sanitary inspection in the orchard on the period of vegetation of harmful organisms.
In the process of visual inspection before export, the economic agent will present control at two per cent of the consignment’s fruits. The collection of samples will be carried out representatively for each producer/variety/orchard.
“The traceability must be maintained during all the process of production, stocking, packing and delivery of plums and only new material will be used for packing. At the same time, the label will include the syntagm “approved for Canada” – according to the Agency’s plants’ protection and health department.
The National Food Safety Agency during more than one year has carried out negotiations on the access of Moldovan plums on the Canadian market. After these talks, Moldova got right to export this product starting from 1 October 2018.
