Moldovan deputy prime minister pays working visit to Czech Republic

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca pays a working visit to the Czech Republic on 18-19 September, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

During meetings held with Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Lukáš Kaucký and Deputy President of the Chamber of Deputies Vojtěch Pikal, the sides discussed the present stage of the bilateral relations and developments of the political dialogue between Moldova and the European Union.  

The need to maintain an intense dynamic of the ties with the European Union’s institutions and member states, security problems from the region, including the developments in the Transnistrian region of Moldova, as well as the dynamic of the bilateral economic relations were tackled by Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and with Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Lukáš Kaucký. Deputy Minister Lukáš Kaucký reiterated his country’s support for Moldova’s European integration, both at the political level and through implementation of projects of Czech assistance for development.     

At the meeting with Deputy President of the Czech parliament’s Chamber of Deputies Vojtěch Pikal, the officials approached the bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, support on the parliamentary dimension for Moldova’s European integration, as well as processes of reform of judicial systems from both states.  

Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca presented to his interlocutors the domestic developments as regards the implementation of the Association Agreement, Moldova’s reforms’ agenda, as well as the positive dynamic of Moldova’s exports in the context of the enforcement of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). Also, Leanca expressed appreciation for the continuous assistance for development provided to Moldova within the Bilateral Cooperation Programme for Development of the Czech Republic with Moldova for 2018-2023.    

The working agenda comprises also meetings with high-ranking officials, such as President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Radek Vondráček, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Chamber of Deputies, former foreign affairs minister Lubomír Zaorálek, as well as with the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of the Czech Senate Frantisek Bublan and the head of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Czech Senate, Václav Hampl.
