Meeting of Romanian National Theater inaugurated in Chisinau

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/- In Chisinau, the fourth edition of the Romanian National Theater Meeting was inaugurated yesterday. It will be held on 19-30 September in the 97th season of the Mihai Eminescu National Theater.
Attending the event were State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of Moldova, Andrei Chistol, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and National Identity of Romania, Geo Popa, Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau, Daniel Ioniţă, Director of the I.L.Caragiale National Theater, Ion Caramitru, Deputy Head of the Romanian Cultural Institute, Mirel Talos, other official people.
In his speech, director of the M.Eminescu theatre Petru Hadarca said that this year's edition, attended by twelve theaters from Moldova and Romania, is dedicated to the Centenary of the Union. "We launched this project in 2014, through a cultural exchange between two theaters, when our theater opened its stage in Bucharest and the I.L.Caragiale National Theater – in Chisinau. For the first time, all national theaters of the two countries participate in the fourth edition of the meeting,” he said.
In this context, Andrei Chistol noted that the event is very important for Moldova’s culture. For his part, Geo Popa said "a miracle happens in Chisinau now". "Through theater we can save," he said.
Ion Caramitru said "the most beautiful language is spoken in the theater, and our homeland, as Nichita Stanescu said, is Romanian.”
19 dramatic performances and a concert, as well as 11 radio shows from Chisinau and Bucharest will be presented at the meeting. The program also includes other artistic delights: conferences, book launches, exhibitions, meetings with actors etc.
The first edition of the Romanian National Theater Meeting took place in 2014, and the initiator of the project was Petru Hadârcă.
