Pro-Moldova vision of Democrats as "right approach" - U.S. Ambassador says

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/- PDM's pro-Moldova vision is a "right approach". U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit made the statement at a meeting with Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc.

According to the PDM press service, the meeting took place yesterday, and before the end of the mandate of Ambassador of James Pettit in Chisinau.

The Democratic leader thanked the U.S. Ambassador for good cooperation during his three-year term. "The United States is a good partner of Moldova, and the good relationship between Moldova and the USA is also due to you,” he said.

Referring to the party's activity, Plahotniuc emphasized the pro-Moldova orientation of the PDM, development of the country according to the Western model for the benefit of Moldovans. He added that the PDM's wish is that the citizens evaluate the party's activity after the reforms and the concrete results. At the end of the discussion, he wished James Pettit success in future work.

The U.S. Ambassador to Chisinau appreciated the pro-Moldova vision of the PDM, describing it as a "correct approach". "The common goal is to improve Moldovan citizens’ life," he said. He congratulated the current government on the performance gained and confirmed by statistical data. "Congratulations to economic growth - is a significant increase. Many problems will be solved in Moldova if the economy continues to grow," he said.

He also stressed that the USA will further back the Republic of Moldova.

James Pettit's mandate in Chisinau will end in the coming weeks, and Derek J. Hogan will take over. The new diplomat will arrive in Moldova in October.
