Decree amending Law on organization of notaries to be published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/- Decree promulgating the law on amending the Law on the organization of work of notaries will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 21 September.

Under the document, the amendments include the work of the General Assembly of notaries, the Chamber of Notaries and the College. Thus, the chairman of the Chamber of Notaries will be elected by secret vote by the members of the council and not by the General Assembly as before.

Earlier this year, lawmakers adopted a new law on notary activity. The document is part of the justice reform strategy and comprises several innovations, including extending the probationary period for notaries from 12 to 18 months and the term "trainee notary". Among the innovations is the creation of a credibility fund made up of notary's contributions. It will be managed by a board of directors who will work within the Chamber of Notaries.
