Denmark supports Moldova's European integration

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/- Opportunities for strengthening the bilateral Moldovan-Danish cooperation as well as the dialogue on the European integration dimension were approached today in Chisinau at a meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker of Denmark Pia Kjaersgaard, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The sides found the existence of very good bilateral relations and positive development of the political dialogue, and voiced interest in continuing the exchange of high-level visits, including at the level of heads of government.

"Denmark has always had a good attitude towards Moldova and here not only on messages, but even financial support was provided. For us, however, the most important is the support that has been and continues to be given to achieve the European reform agenda of the government and we rely on its intensification," he said.

The premier said that the government's program is based on the Association Agreement with the EU and the country's main goal is to be close to the EU.

Filip thanked the Danish government for the ongoing technical assistance programs in our country during the 2013-2017 budget cycle. Their main goals are human rights, democracy, fighting corruption, gender equality and economic development.

The sides also exchanged views on justice reform, electoral system and next parliamentary elections. The premier said that the government will do the best for the next parliamentary elections to be fair, democratic and transparent.

Pia Kjærsgaard pays a visit to Chisinau on 19-21 September.
