Moldovan speaker parliament has meeting with Danish counerpart

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/ – The progress registered by Moldova on the path to European integration was presented during the meeting of Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, with the Speaker of Denmark, Pia Kjærsgaard, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

"The most important reforms are to ensure the observance of the rule of law in Moldova and the good functioning of the democratic institutions. There is political will to achieve this goal," said Speaker of Parliament.

"We have an obligation to ensure free, fair and transparent parliamentary elections. We will take action so that external factors do not intervene in the electoral process," said Andrian Candu.

The discussions focused on parliamentary scrutiny, fighting corruption, ensuring transparency of the legislative institution, working with civil society and media outlets, as well as national projects implemented by authorities.

Pija Kjærsgaard visited the plenary session hall and left a message in Honourable Book of Parliament.

Speaker of Denmark, Pia Kjærsgaard, visits Moldova on 19 – 21 September, at the invitation of Andrian Candu earlier this year during his visit to Copenhagen.
