Servicemen from Moldova to take part in EU Training Mission in Mali

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved a draft decision on the participation of National Army’s staff in the European Union Training Mission in Mali. “Moldova’s contribution to European Union’s crisis management missions represents a political commitment of Moldova’s government, contained including in the Association Agreement,” reads an informative note by the Defence Ministry.
According to the Defence Ministry, the status of neutrality “does not exclude the extra-territorial participation of armed forces of a neutral state and does not prevent any of the neutral states from participating in interventions under the aegis of UNO or EU, each in its own way and depending on its foreign policy promoted.”
Under the cabinet decision, starting from 1 October 2018, two military of the National Army will be detached to the European Training Mission in Mali for a six-month period.
