Moldovan government approves new strategy of IT sector's development

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a strategy of development of information technology’s industry and of the ecosystem for digital innovation for 2018-2023, as well as an action plan on its implementation, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The document’s goal is to create a competitive IT business environment, to develop the human capital in the Information Technologies and Communications (ITC) sector, to enhance innovations in this field, as well as to increase exports of IT products and services.

Entrepreneurial hubs, based on ITC centres of excellence and business incubators,   will be set up to this end. The strategy also provides for the development of a network of digital ambassadors of Moldova for promoting the IT industry on the international stage, as well as the providing by the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM) of small grants for investments projects on increasing the competitiveness of companies with the help of IT solutions.

The Strategy’s implementation is estimated to cost 240 million lei. The money will be allocated mostly by the business community and development partners.
