Moldovan government to financially stimulate investments in wine-making, vine-growing, horticultural sectors

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - Small producers, startup companies, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises from the agricultural sector will have access to financial sources provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB). In this respect, the cabinet approved the starting of negotiations and signing of the amendment No 2 to the Contract on Financing between Moldova and EIB for the carrying out of the project, Moldova’s Orchard, signed in 2014, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The new amendment of the contract provides for the extension of the list of investment activities eligible for financing, among which the processing of vegetables, developing nurseries, processing grapes and developing the agro-tourism. Also, small producers of vegetables, fruits, nuts and decorative bushes from the farming sector will have access to the EIB loan as well. The project will allow technological modernization and enhancing the competitiveness of native fruits on the domestic and foreign markets.
The project, Moldova’s Orchard, sees providing by EIB of a loan worth 120 million euros, through which producers can benefit from financial support. The money can be accessed through operations of crediting or through leasing companies. The overall cost of each sub-project cannot exceed five million euros.
