Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldova and Albania are interested in strengthening bilateral cooperation by boosting high-level political dialogue, organizing inter-ministerial political consultations, opening up Honorary Consulates, fostering trade-economic exchanges and business contacts between the two countries. Foreign ministers of the two states Tudor Ulianovschi and Ditmir Bushati made the statement at a meeting in New York, where both ministers participated in the 73rd UN General Assembly, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.

Touching upon the bilateral cooperation in the European integration, Ulianovschi congratulated the Albanian counterpart on the encouraging decisions taken by EU on starting negotiations for the accession of the Republic of Albania to the European Union in June 2019. In this context, the sides pointed out the importance of organizing inter-ministerial political consultations, especially on the European integration and the Albanian experience in the judiciary reform. "We are interested in studying Albania's experience on reforming justice and taking over these practices, implemented by the Tirana authorities with EU support, which helped the Albanian government unlock the strategic relationship with the EU and the USA,” he said.

For his part, Bushati reiterated Albania's interest in expanding and deepening bilateral relations with Moldova, establishing mutually beneficial partnerships of cooperation in all areas, initiating investment projects involving the business environment of the two states, etc. According to the Albanian diplomat, an important step in this direction would be the organization of inter-ministerial political consultations in Tirana, especially on the dimensions of European integration and internal affairs. "We propose to set a common mechanism for cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries to enhance cooperation in combating trafficking in human beings and illegal migration," he said.
