Intelligence officers discover consignment of weapons, ammunitions in south Moldova town

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of Moldova’s Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) have discovered a consignment of fire guns and ammunitions in the southern Vulcanesti town. The action took place within measures of prophylaxis in terms of manufacturing, preservation and sale of fire guns.

According to SIS, 350 cartridges of the caliber 5.45 and a grenade launcher RPG 26 were discovered within special investigation measures.

In late last August, also in the area of the Vulcanesti district, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, intelligence officers discovered two anti-personnel mines, an F1 grenade, a RGD 5 grenade, a RG 42 grenade, a TNT block with explosive wick, four detonating primers, an anti-tank cartridge, a loader for AK automatic pistol and over 200 cartridges of various caliber.

SIS officers, jointly with representatives of law-enforcement bodies, investigate the case, in order to clear up all circumstances and identify the persons involved in the criminal activity.
