Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/- Local authorities from Moldova and Romania today held an international conference in Chisinau, entitled "Integrated Local Development and Economic Growth".

The event was organized by the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) and the Association of Cities in Romania (AOR).

Opening the event, CALM head Tatiana Badan said that the development of localities on both banks of the Prut will be approached.

“We want to attract investments that will ensure economic growth and local development. We will examine with colleagues from Romania goals and actions that need to be made in their implementation. We want quality services to be offered in the localities in our country, and for this we will continue to support the joint programs and partnerships with colleagues from Romania," Badan said.

“I've been waiting for this event very much. We are here to share our experience in raising living standards and finding the resources needed to implement joint programs. We need increased attractiveness to get more foreign investment. We want to support you in local and regional development because we have the same language and traditions, which unites us and makes these partnerships extremely important to us,” AOR head Madalin Ady Teodosescu said.

For his part, Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau Daniel Ioniţa noted that the support coming from Bucharest is due to the support given by the Romanian government and parliament. “We want economic growth and an increase in the number of foreign investors, which will allow successful joint projects. We will continue to be close and urge Moldova to actively participate in the development and implementation of joint cross-border projects," he said.

The guests and participants in the event noted among the most important projects with the support of Romania the renovation of over 1,400 kindergartens from several localities of the country. At the same time, Romanian officials pointed out that another 3 million euros were previously allocated for the renovation of over 80 kindergartens in Moldova.
