Memorandum of understanding between administrations of parliaments from Eastern Europe signed in Tbilisi

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - A memorandum of understanding between the administrations of the parliaments from the Eastern Europe countries was concluded in Tbilisi, Georgia, today. The document was signed by the general secretaries of the parliaments from six states at a first meeting of this kind.
Attending the event, the parliament’s secretary general, Ala Popescu, has said that “the meeting represents a good opportunity to establish productive relations between the administrations of the parliaments of the participating countries.”
According to a press release by the Moldovan parliament, the Memorandum’s goal is to set a network of cooperation and exchange of good practices between the sides, thus establishing a new framework of collaboration concerning the ways of strengthening the inter-parliamentary relations.
Under the document’s provisions, the sides committed to take every effort to consolidate the professional capacities and identify the best solutions to the current common challenges.
The event held in Tbilisi brought together general secretaries of the parliament of Georgia, National Assembly of Armenia, Milli Mejlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, National Assembly of Belarus, Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine, parliament of Moldova and representatives of Germany’s Bundestag.
