Moldovan – Azeri commission for commercial, economic cooperation to hold meeting till late 2018

Chisinau, 05 October /MOLDPRES/ – The opportunities for intensifying the Moldovan – Azerbaijani dialogue, focusing on the priority areas, were discussed today by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, and deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Akhmedov. The meeting took place in the margins of the meeting of GUAM member countries.

According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported, in order to boost trade, the two officials agreed that the Moldovan – Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission for commercial – economic cooperation should meet before the end of 2018. It was also mentioned the opportunity of organising a forum for businessmen from Moldova and Azerbaijan.

Pavel Filip encouraged the Azerbaijani businessmen to invest in Moldovan economy by participating in the privatisation of the objects on sale, but also to use the advantages offered by the Free Economic Zones (ZEL) and Virtual Parks. At present, 118 enterprises with Azerbaijan capital are active in Moldova, with investments worth over MDL 32 million.

During the talks, the officials also agreed upon implementation of social and cultural projects. It has been agreed that the Days of Culture of Moldova and Azerbaijan will be organised in the near future, which would strengthen the friendly relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan. PM Pavel Filip emphasised the important role of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in the social life of Moldova.

At the end of the meeting, Ali Akhmedov invited Pavel Filip to make an official visit to Azerbaijan, the invitation being accepted by Moldovan PM.
