Chisinau to host intergovernmental meeting of Moldova, Georgia

Chisinau, 05 October /MOLDPRES/ – There will be held an intergovernmental meeting of Moldova – Georgia and a forum of businessmen from Moldova and Georgia in Chisinau. The announcement has been made today by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, at a press conference held jointly with his Georgian counterpart, Mamuka Bakhtadze, which is paying an official visit to Chisinau.
Pavel Filip has specified that during the intergovernmental meeting, there will be discussed several economic issues.
"The meeting of today is a good opportunity to continue the talks on bilateral agenda. We talked about political and economic relations and found that they are very good. We also thank Georgia for its support in international platforms and for backing the UN resolution on the withdrawal of foreign troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova. This has shown that Georgia is a true friend. We also have mutual support in the Eastern Partnership. We have also reiterated that Moldova will continue to support the integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, and I was glad to hear the same thing from my Georgian colleagues towards our country. We thank for this productive discussion and for the exchange of opinions," said Pavel Filip.
At his turn, Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze, underlined that, lately, the Moldovan – Georgian relations have intensified. "We have common goals, namely European integration. We are interested in sharing our experience and developing bilateral economic and trade relations. I believe that the organisation of the intergovernmental meeting is very welcome, and today there will be a parliamentary meeting between the two countries where there will be discussed some topical issues. We have found that we also have common problems, but I am delighted that we are supporting mutually the integrity and sovereignty of our countries. We also talked about challenges of Russia, but I am sure we can overcome them together," said Mamuka Bakhtadze.
Also today, it was signed the Agreement on the mutual exchange and protection of classified info at the meeting between the Governments of Moldova and Georgia.
Georgian Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, is on an official visit to Chisinau, where he is attending the meeting of the Heads of Government of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM), Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova.
