Moldova as dynamic actor of Francophonie in Central, Eastern Europe region

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/- Moldova is a dynamic actor of Francophony in the Central and Eastern Europe region, which fully turns to good account its commitments in French-language projects dedicated to the promotion of French, gender equality, cultural diversity, peace, democracy and human rights. Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi made the statement at the 35th meeting of the Francophonie Ministerial Conference held in Yerevan on 8-9 October.
According to the MAEIE’s press service, in his speech, the official reaffirmed Moldova’s commitment to promote Francophone heritage and French language, "central pearl of the crown of Francophone identity", and reiterated the role of Francophonie as a vector of universal values of cultural and linguistic diversity, respect for democracy and the rule of law, human rights and fundamental freedoms, biodiversity and environment.
Ulianovschi thanked the member states of the International Francophonie Organization, who co-authored and supported the UN General Assembly Resolution on the full and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from Moldova adopted on 22 June in New York. "In a conflict-threatened world, the Republic of Moldova fully supports the efforts of the International Organization of Francophonie to promote peace, security and stability, reiterating its firm commitment to the peaceful settlement of crises and conflicts affecting the Francophone space, in accordance with the principles and goals of the United Nations. The support given to our country is a true proof of solidarity of Francophone family,” he said.
In the context of the International Summit of Francophonie, the foreign ministers adopted a number of decisions aimed at enhancing the cooperation of the Francophone countries in peace-building in the Francophone area, civic education and human rights, protection of human rights, cultural participation, knowledge transfer turning to good account research, neglected tropical diseases, promoting gender equality and women's participation in entrepreneurial activities.
