European single currency to depreciate against Moldovan leu

Chisinau, 08 October /MOLDPRES/ – The European single currency (EUR) depreciates by MDL 0,04 on 09 October against the Moldovan leu (MDL). The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has set an official exchange rate of MDL 19,45.

According to BNM's data, the USD is priced with MDL 0,01. Its value will be MDL 16,96.

The Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) keeps its value of MDL 0,60, and the Russian rouble (RUB) remains at the level of MDL 0,25. As such, the Romanian leu (RON) cheapens, with its official quote of MDL 04,16.

According to the operative info on the social and economic development of Moldova presented today by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), the MDL continues to appreciate against USD and EUR. Thus, since the beginning of 2018, the national currency has appreciated by 2.3 per cent against the US dollar in nominal terms (from MDL 17.10 for $1 on 01 January 2018 to MDL 16.71 in late August 2018). Compared to EUR, the MDL has appreciated by 5.1 per cent.
