Moldovan deputy premier meets Romanian foreign minister

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic had a working meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu in Bucharest on 8 October, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The officials tackled a range of issues related to bilateral cooperation and assistance programmes, pointing out that Romania has been and remains a consistent supporter in Moldova’s European agenda implementation, a strategic partner in supporting reforms initiated in Chisinau, an active investor in the sustainable development of the localities on the left bank of the Prut River.
They approached the Transnistrian settlement process, assessing the dynamics of negotiation platforms, including the sectoral experts on both banks of the Dniester, the agreements in the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue, the level of their implementation, difficulties and challenges, measures taken by the Moldovan side to boost sustainable solving existing problems and eliminating artificial barriers.
The deputy premier expressed concern about recent incidents in the Security Zone and stressed the need to mobilize efforts of relevant actors to stop the violations found, to relieve the atmosphere and to return the situation to normality.
At the same time, the sides broached the human rights situation in the Transnistrian region, the Latin-script educational institutions, the landowners from Dubasari district and the indispensability of the unconditional and integral restoration of the legitimate rights of persons, pupils, teachers, farmers and all categories of citizens whose rights and freedoms are universally guaranteed.
The Romanian official showed satisfaction with the dialogue, highlighting the continued willingness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest to support the messages and approaches of the Moldovan authorities within existing international platforms and to strengthen cooperation at all levels.
The deputy premier thanked for warm welcome and increased interest in the Transnistrian issue and was confident in maintaining a productive collaboration in the future.
Bucharest visit took place at the invitation of the Romanian side. The Moldovan delegation was made up of representatives of the Bureau for Reintegration and the Public Services Agency.
