Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - The dean of the Moldovan State University’s (USM) Law Faculty and a lawyer have been detained by law-enforcers and escorted to the headquarters of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) for hearings. The decision was taken after anticorruption prosecutors and officers, as well as CNA officers today had made searches in a criminal file opened for the committing of offences of passive and active corruption.
The searches were carried at the office of the dean of USM’s Law Faculty and at the office and home of a head of doctoral theses. Following the searches, anticorruption prosecutors and officers seized technical means, information bearers and more doctoral theses.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, one PhD in law and head of the doctoral theses, who is also lawyer, member of the commission for public defending of doctoral theses, set up at USM, would have given the dean of the Law Faculty more installments of financial means he does not deserve in last August. “In exchange for the money, the dean was to facilitate the defending of doctoral theses by two trainers for doctor’s degree,” the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said.
