Rescuers completed dismantling unstable building affected by blast

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/- Rescuers today completed the intervention works for dismantling the unstable buildings from the floors affected by the explosion.
Liliana Puşcaşu, head of the Press Service of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, said that rescue intervention lasted five days. "The mission of rescuers and firefighters was to carry out search, rescue, unlock and recovery. Over several days, IGSU employees carried out risky works. Also, rescuers recovered some of the lost goods under the ruins and ensured their penetration into less affected floors,” she said.
According to the information of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, seven more people were accommodated at the Central Railway Hospital in Chisinau on 10 October, so there are still 29 people, who were previously evacuated from the building. Over 80 people from IGSU, IGP, Carabineer Troop Department and local public administration worked yesterday to liquidate the consequences of the explosion.
The circumstances and cause of deflagration are to be determined by law enforcement bodies.
Yesterday, Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu said that the building affected by the explosion will not be demolished. The decision was taken after an expert committee assessed the condition of the building. He noted that the owners of the apartments that have not been affected will be able to return home in a month and the affected apartments will be rebuilt.
Specialists will check water supply, heating and electricity networks. Also, the freight elevator will not work, and the passenger lift will be monitored for a period of time by specialists.
An explosion occurred on 6 October in a residential building in Râşcani district of the capital. Four people died in the blast. The government announced it would allocate 50,000 lei to families of the deceased.
