Moldovan PM demands unveiling of plan of concrete actions as to blast from Chisinau

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today demanded that all institutions in charge of liquidating the consequences of a blast which had recently occurred in Chisinau consolidate efforts and act in a coordinated way, in order to quickly identify solutions. The PM was informed about the latest details on this case, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

”When we have a crisis situation, we have two aspects: 1. How we manage the situation. And here I want to thank the rescuers, firemen, policemen and physicians for the way they acted. 2. How we make sure that such things will never happen again.   

”We, as authorities, must take every measure to remove these risks and act in consolidated and coordinated way between institutions,” Pavel Filip said. Thus, the prime minister noted that, at present, decision-makers should focus their efforts on three dimensions for liquidating the consequences of the explosion:  

1. Carrying a detailed expertise of the block of flats. According to experts’ preliminary conclusions, the block can be re-established and, following consolidation works, the residents might return to their flats.  

2. Providing the people with temporary dwellings. ”All those who lived in the damaged entrance hall, should have provisional dwellings and all conditions. The priority No 1 represents people,” the PM said.   

3. Providing needed regulations which would prevent such actions. “Let us see how we can make sure than such things could never happen again. If necessary, we should intervene in the legal framework, if we must change the mechanisms of use of gas cylinders and, very important, we should talk to people,” Pavel Filip said.  

The prime minister instructed that the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry creates a working group, which is to come up with an action plan due to contain solutions and proposals in a one-week term, so that such situations never occur again. After the technical expertise is ready, the Chisinau city hall will deal with works of designing and rehabilitation of the block of flats.
