Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ – On 10 October 2018, the Institute for Democracy (ID) organised a seminar in Gagauzia on theme: The modern methods of teaching human rights for pupils. This seminar was organised at Congazic for people who have a significant impact on shaping the world view and the values of young teachers.
At the seminar, the participants discussed the importance of the Convention on elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.
The seminar was organised by ID (Comrat) within project: Increasing of mutual trust between teachers on the two banks of the Dniester: Developing regional capacities for the continued development of teacher competences in the field of modern pro-active human rights education, funded by EU (Confidence Building Programme).
As noted the head of the office of Ombudsman in Comrat, Svetlana Mironova, "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and must act one another in the spirit of brotherhood" (The universal declaration of human rights). Everyone can rely on all the rights and freedoms proclaimed in this Universal Declaration of Human Rights without any distinction such as race, colour, gender, religion, political opinion or any other opinion of national origin or social, wealth, birth or any other circumstances.
It has been extremely useful for teachers to learn that all people enjoy human rights equally, excluding any kind of discrimination. At the centre of the concept of human rights there are two fundamental values: the first is human dignity, and the second is equality.
During the seminar, the teachers learnt that human rights reflect their basic needs, set the basic standards without which people can not live worthy.
The novelty of presented info, its practical orientation has led to a great interest of participants, teachers have noted that they have learnt a lot of useful info that can be successfully used in teaching human rights.
The teachers evaluated this seminar positively, thanked the project organiser and donor, the European Union, pointing out that it would be useful to continue similar seminars as they contribute to increasing the skills of teachers and the quality of modern pro-active human rights teaching, formation of democratic values of young people and their ability to protect their fundamental rights and freedoms in case they are violated.
This project is implemented with the EU financial support. The project coordinator is the Institute for Democracy (ID) – a public organisation officially registered with the Ministry of Justice (MJ) of Moldova in January 2007.
