Construction of first multipurpose hall from Moldova starts

Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - The construction of a multifunctional compound, Chisinau Arena, was launched at a today’s ceremony in Stauceni, Chisinau municipality. Attending the event were Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the president of the SUMMA Development Corporation, ministers and MPs, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The construction site was inaugurated seven months after Andrian Candu had announced intention to build the first multipurpose hall, in line with the criteria of the international federations for indoor sports.
”We have promoted the project of a modern multipurpose compound, as only through an investment of such a scope, we will provide conditions for the training of performance sportspeople, organization of important international competitions and cultural events. The materialization of our common aspirations of the last 27 years is the Chisinau Arena – the most ambitious project developed in Moldova since the Independence,’’ Andrian Candu said at the opening of the event.
According to the parliament speaker, Chisinau Arena is more than a multifunctional compound, it is our declaration of interest for a modern, healthy and performant country.
President of SUMMA Selim Bora informed that the construction would be completed in 12 months. Under the project, Chisinau Arena will have a multipurpose arena with a capacity of more than 4,000 spectators; a hall meant for training and small events; an Olympic pool; Aqua Park; Tennis Club, a swimming pool opened during summer, which will turn into open-air skating rink in winter; a modern parking, with a sufficient capacity to host all guests.
Andrian Candu announced the initiative to build the multifunctional compound on 13 March 2018. The construction company was selected following a public tender. Chisinau Arena will stretch on an area of ten hectares. The cost of the project is of about 43 million euros.
