Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - The building of Moldova’s National Justice Institute (INJ) has been renovated. The reconstruction works cost 500,000 dollars, of which 270,000 dollars was earmarked by the U.S. Government and 230,000 – by INJ.
The repair started in 2017 and lasted almost one year. The more than 100-year-old building needed comprehensive restoration and strengthening of the resistance structure. Now, INJ has multifunctional rooms with audio and visual equipments which allow recording simulations, in order to be subsequently analyzed by unattached students.
„In the last years, we have witnessed a reformation and modernization of INJ, which would not have been possible also without the improvement of the infrastructure. We are grateful to the development partners for their continuous support,” the director of the National Justice Institute, Diana Scobioala, said at the inauguration event.
„The continuous development and reformation of the justice sector from Moldova represents a major priority for us. The United States has invested millions of dollars in the consolidation of institutions, which are vital for the creation of the rule of law state in Moldova. A fair, transparent and professional justice sector is an essential component of any democracy and we are proud of our lasting partnership for backing Moldova on its European integration way,” Charge D’ Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova Martin McDowell said.
After the restoration, INJ enhanced its accessibility for persons with disabilities, by the construction of access platforms, setting tactile paving and accessible WCs.
The National Justice Institute is in charge of the process of professional training in the legal sector. During the initial training at INJ, students learn how to chair court sessions, present arguments in court and prepare various procedural acts.
