Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - The block of flats from the Rascani district of Chisinau, where the explosion occurred, will be reconstructed and the works to this end will start on the days to come. The deputy mayor of Chisinau, Nistor Grozavu, made statements to this effect at a meeting of the Chisinau city hall’s services today.
„Following the examination of the building, the Commission established that the block of flats can be restored. There are works which have practically not been carried out so far at such a height and of such a difficulty. The works are to be finished during one month and a half. The floors will be reconstructed, the lift will be changed, the apartments will be repaired and the stairs will be re-arranged. Four flats have been strongly hit in all,” Grozavu said.
The deputy mayor stressed that, “for the time being, the exact sum of the damages is not known and neither the cost of the works due to be carried out.”
For his part, the acting mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, demanded that “the works be carried out daily and the residents should be informed about their unfolding.”
Four persons died in the wake of a blast in a 21-storied block of flats from the Moldovan capital’s Rascani district. According to the authorities, the explosion would have taken place because of a gas cylinder.
