Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - The north Moldova Ocnita railway customs checkpoint will have one of the most high-tech scanners existing on market at present. The equipment is meant for checking goods carried by train and its construction will be finished till late 2018.
According to the Customs Service, the scanning equipment is donated by the government of China under a technical assistance project worth 5.7 million dollars. Within the same project, the customs checkpoint Chisinau International Airport in last May was endowed with a scanner for inspecting cargo luggage.
The works of reconstruction of the scanner from Ocnita were verified within a monitoring visit by representatives of the China International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchanges, of the general entrepreneur and producing company.
Director of the Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie said that eventual frauds could be prevented more efficiently due to this technology.
The first scanner was donated by the government of China in 2015 and was set at the Leuseni customs checkpoint.
