Orange code of measles to be changed in Moldova

Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Orange code on the risk of measles spreading could be changed into Yellow code while maintaining increased alertness. The proposal came from the Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS) and it was examined today by members of the Standing Bureau of the Parliament (BPP).
According to the report presented by MSMPS, the epidemiological situation regarding measles diseases has improved and in early October there were not reported any new suspected cases. Also, surveillance measures are maintained throughout Moldova. In this respect, the National Public Healthcare Agency (ANSP) ensures the activity of 24/24 hour focal point for the monitoring of measles cases.
According to the cited source, there have been recorded 295 confirmed cases of measles in Moldova. Most of the illnesses occurred during August – 239 cases, and the most affected districts are Ceadar – Lunga, Vulcanesti, Ungheni, Taraclia, Cahul and Cantemir.
According to the data of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) at the beginning of October, there were not admitted 5,314 pupils to the institutions. Out of these ones, there have been recently vaccinated 1,606 children.
