Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/- Fresh fruits and vegetables will be subjected to compliance with quality requirements. The parliament adopted today a draft law in first reading.
Under the draft, control will be carried out at all stages of the trade chain to the final consumer and will be applied to private people and legal entities, except for the domestic sector. Compliance checks will be conducted by the National Food Safety Agency, which will monitor and establish a control system, including risk assessment. Compliance check will ensure compliance with commercial parameters for fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the marketing chain.
At present, fruit and vegetables placed in the marketing chain are not labeled, sorted or graded according to quality requirements, and their price is standard for a mix of classes, varieties or caliber, which disadvantages consumers.
