Moldovan parliament makes amendments to criminal procedure code

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The preventive arrest could not be applied, if some conditions are cumulatively fulfilled. The parliament passed a draft on amendment of the criminal procedure code in the first reading today.

The initiative belongs to a group of MPs of the Democratic Party (PDM) and sees that the preventive arrest will not be enforced, if the following conditions are cumulatively fulfilled: the defendant recognized his/her guilt for committing the offence; the offences were committed without applying physical or psychic coercion; the offences did not result in the causing of damages to the person’s life and health; the offences were committed by an organized criminal group or criminal organization.

According to the authors, the new regulations will help reduce the number of cases of applying the preventive arrest.
